Origins

The origin of Libra is from Roman society. The constellation Libra is depicted as scales and balance. The Romans associated the scales with trade, since measuring equal parts of things being traded was essential to their society.

Greek Mythology

Libra is associated with the Roman goddess of justice, Themis. Themis is the Greek mythology version of Atalanta, which means balanced. It is thought that Themis’ daughter, Astraea, went up to heaven and became the constellation of Virgo and carried the scales of justice, Libra. Themis is often depicted as being blindfolded. Thus “blind justice” goes back to the time when Libra was invented.

Traits

Librans like balance, harmony, fairness, and everything in their life to be on an even keel. They do not like chaos or conflict. Librans are perfectionists and like things to be tidy and orderly. In conclusion, Librans are very social and put their friends in the limelight. The symbol of the scales is correct and Librans do usually have a balanced character. The ability to detect if a person is untrustworthy is not lost on the Libran.
